Join us for our first annual Saint Augustine Lecture!

Throughout his career, St. Augustine of Hippo reflected on the promise and the perils of education in the classical tradition. Drawing especially on insights from his works On the Teacher and On Christian Teaching, this talk will consider the role that Christ the Teacher plays in Augustine's advice to human teachers.

Fr. Brian Dunkle, S.J., has degrees from Harvard University (AB), Oxford (M.St.), Fordham University (MA), the Gregorian University (S.T.B.), Boston College (S.T.L.), and the University of Notre Dame (PhD). He is currently Associate Professor of Historical Theology at the Boston College Clough School of Theology and Ministry, and the author of Enchantment and Creed in the Hymns of Ambrose of Milan (Oxford, 2016), as well as translator of works by Greek and Latin Fathers of the Church.
