Racing is open to all rising 4th -10th graders; families are welcome to attend as well. This event is open to SAS and non-SAS families!
Racers need to make their cars ahead of time and bring them with them to the Derby. Click here for instructions.
Lunch cost: $5 per person (to be collected day of)

The oral exams will be spread out over these two days, but each student will only need to be present for their oral exam on one of the days.

Formation vs. School: What is education for?
Join us for St. Augustine School’s new parent conversation series on how to give your children the robust education they need.
What if teaching grammar and formal composition is a key component of forming your child’s mind? What if students looked forward to essays rather than dreading them? Come for an evening of dialogue about what an effective education in writing could look like. We will begin with a brief talk by Ellie Peters on teaching grammar analysis to middle schoolers, followed by open discussion.

Throughout his career, St. Augustine of Hippo reflected on the promise and the perils of education in the classical tradition. Drawing especially on insights from his works On the Teacher and On Christian Teaching, this talk will consider the role that Christ the Teacher plays in Augustine's advice to human teachers.

Fr. Brian Dunkle, S.J., has degrees from Harvard University (AB), Oxford (M.St.), Fordham University (MA), the Gregorian University (S.T.B.), Boston College (S.T.L.), and the University of Notre Dame (PhD). He is currently Associate Professor of Historical Theology at the Boston College Clough School of Theology and Ministry, and the author of Enchantment and Creed in the Hymns of Ambrose of Milan (Oxford, 2016), as well as translator of works by Greek and Latin Fathers of the Church.

Formation vs. School: What is education for?
St. Augustine School is introducing a new parent conversation series on how to give your children the robust education they need. Join us for an evening of discussion on what genuine intellectual formation might look like.
Steve Hendrickson, SAS’s Dean of Boys and math teacher, will kick off the series with a brief talk on St. Augustine’s unique approach to math before opening up the conversation about what a dynamic math education can look like.
